Help Wanted- Cheesemaker Part OR Full time

Starting: May 2026

Blue Ledge Farm is an Animal Welfare Approved farm, home to 175 dairy goats, and the makers of award-winning cheese. We produce 60,000 lbs of cheese annually from our own herd of goats and from purchased cows milk (farm just two miles away). All of our cheese is handmade and small batch. We are looking for the right person(s) to join our cheesemaking team.

Expectations:

A love of high quality, artisan food and an excellent adherence to food safety

Willingness to take on complex tasks and responsibility around food safety

Detail oriented and thorough

Work is task-based not time-based and changes with season somewhat

Flexibility necessary on a small team

Clean and observant

Must work half-day on a weekend day

We are willing to invest the time to training the right person to become a cheesemaker but are looking for a long-term commitment of at least two years.

Tasks:

Pasteurizing with our High Temp Short Time pasteurizer (we will train you)

Starting batches of cheese, precise measurements of cultures, salt, etc.

Flipping (affinage) and care of cheese in aging rooms

Pouring curds, wrapping cheese, cleaning, cleaning, cleaning!

Description:

Physical work, on feet, must lift 30 lbs. Repetitive work, but each day is different.

Work is solo and with others on a close knit team.

We provide:

A positive, affirming, flexible work environment where one is expected to work quickly and efficiently making award-winning cheese while enjoying your own choice of music or podcast or great conversation (ability to work while talking a must, however).

Starting pay $20/hour, routine raises expected with increased competency.

Time and a half on weekends and holidays. 

One week paid time off after one year. Unlimited unpaid time off as long as other team members cover your work.

We are open to Part time (12 hours minimum) OR Full time (35 hours). 

You can combine with Herdsperson job or not.
